Sclerotherapy is the most common treatment used for varicose and spider veins. Sclerotherapy is a procedure that involves injecting an unwanted vein with a saline solution.
The injectable solution that we use at our clinic is called Sclerodex ® containing sodium chloride. When injected into the unwanted vein, it causes the vein wall to collapse, stick together and close.
How is Sclerotherapy Performed?
The treatment is performed by our fully trained and qualified nurse. A vein light is used to assist the nurse to precisely inject the targeted vein using a very fine needle. The sessions last approximately 20 minutes and treatments are booked 2 to 3 weeks apart.
